... Given a, b, h  ℝ where a and b are not both zero, the equation ax + by = h is called a linear equation in two variables. The symbols x and y are called variables, the numbers a and b are called coefficients , and the number h is called the right hand side constant. An ordered pair (x0 , y0 ) of rea ...

Solving Systems by Graphing Create a system of linear equations to

...  A "system" of equations is a set or collection of equations that you deal with all together at once. Linear equations (ones that graph as straight lines) are simpler than non-linear equations, and the simplest linear system is one with two equations and two variables. Now consider the following tw ...

System of polynomial equations

A system of polynomial equations is a set of simultaneous equations f1 = 0, ..., fh = 0 where the fi are polynomials in several variables, say x1, ..., xn, over some field k.Usually, the field k is either the field of rational numbers or a finite field, although most of the theory applies to any field.A solution is a set of the values for the xi which make all of the equations true and which belong to some algebraically closed field extension K of k. When k is the field of rational numbers, K is the field of complex numbers.
