... We can derive from Figure 8 that the vast majority of RJ stresses are very small: over 99.7% of RJ occurrences are less than 10% of the peak-to-peak DJ. The vast majority of RJ effects are small amplitude fluctuations that occur with high probability. Compliance requires testing to a BER of 10-12. T ...

... record seismic waves as they propagate below the ground. By measuring travel times and amplitudes of various components of the waves, the underground structures encountered by the waves can be determined. Selection of the resistors 130a - 130j, only one of which will be connected by its associated transistor to the voltage source at any given time, will result in a desired volt age output on line 98 for a given input to the hold circuit 120. Accordingly, resistors may be selected so t ...

... is to use a noise filtering technique [lo]. In Fig. 2 inductor L, and capacitor C, forms a 2nd order lowpass filter which prevents noise at even harmonics from being injected into the feedback path of the oscillator. Inclusion of different size inductors shows regions of both phase noise improvement ...

Poster Image Matching by Color Scheme and Layout

... Posters are used everywhere for movies, activities, announcements, etc. Sometimes if people are interested in the event that the poster is about, all they can do now is remember the event and look it up later by text. This is not efficient and convenient. Here we hope to design a poster image matchin ...

... In this formula, loaded-resonator Q is the dominant design parameter affecting phase noise. Low-noise design dictates that this parameter be maximized to meet tuneability requirements. A high loadedresonator Q requires the use of resonant-tank components with high unloaded Q. Under these conditions, ...

Artifacts in AFM - Xiaoshan Xu - University of Nebraska–Lincoln

... The AFM images usually contain large background mainly due to the non-linear nature of ceramic piezo-scanners and cross-coupling between these piezos. Among the most common AFM image processing techniques used to subtract background are the data "leveling" techniques. There are, in general, two type ...

Dither

Dither is an intentionally applied form of noise used to randomize quantization error, preventing large-scale patterns such as color banding in images. Dither is routinely used in processing of both digital audio and video data, and is often one of the last stages of ""mastering"" audio to a CD.A typical use of dither is converting a greyscale image to black and white, such that the density of black dots in the new image approximates the average grey level in the original.
