... We have a sound source with an acoustic power of 1 Watt. What is the SPL at a distance of 3 meters ? • The power is spread over the surface of a sphere with radius 3 m. • This surface is 4 ∗ π ∗ R2 or 113.1 m2. • So the intensity I is 1 W / 113.1 m2, or 8.842e-3 W / m2. ...

In order to reduce the look-up table ROM size, the phase word is normally truncated prior to the ROM input, which introduces quantization noise. 2) The ROM word width is normally limited by the finite number of bits in the DAC. ... We wish to provide the bias current of the CG stage by a current source or a resistor. Compare the additional noise in these two cases. Since VGS2-VTH2 ≤ VRB, the noise contribution of M2 is about twice that of RB (for γ ≈ 1). Additionally, M2 may introduce significant capacitance at the input node. ...

Dither

Dither is an intentionally applied form of noise used to randomize quantization error, preventing large-scale patterns such as color banding in images. Dither is routinely used in processing of both digital audio and video data, and is often one of the last stages of ""mastering"" audio to a CD.A typical use of dither is converting a greyscale image to black and white, such that the density of black dots in the new image approximates the average grey level in the original.
