These two vessels run in lesser omentum along lesser curvature , and anastomose end-to-end. The mesentery extends about 15 cm downward and to the right from the duodenojejunal flexure to the ileocolic junction . The intestinal border is many times longer (6 or 7 m.) than the root of the mesentery; hence the mesentery is pleated. 2 Where are the junctions between the foregut and midgut and between the midgut and hindgut? The foregut-midgut and celiac-superior mesenteric junction is at the middle of the duodenum, superior to the major duodenal orifice. The midgut-hindgut and superior-inferior mesenteric junction is near the left end of the transverse colon. 3. How is the liver maintained in position?
