MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To assist in developing, improving and reporting on the MS Society’s cold and
warm multi-channel fundraising programme including donor appeals, telephone
fundraising and trading activity as well as payroll giving, raffles, on-line marketing
and other ad-hoc projects to maximise fundraising income and opportunities.

The post holder will report to the Marketing Manager and will also work closely with
the following:

Direct Marketing Officers

Staff throughout the MS Society especially Supporter Services, Database,
Research, New Media and Communications, Membership and Fundraising
teams UK-wide.

External key suppliers including direct marketing agency, telephone
fundraising, list broking, fulfilment, face to face agency, print and digital
agency and others as required.

Members and supporters of the Society whether to gain feedback, case
study information or to deal with direct marketing and fundraising related
queries and complaints.

Responsible for monitoring income and expenditure for specific
projects, and reporting on them accurately.
Make decisions relating to brief, creative and content for specific
projects within the direct marketing and fundraising programme.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS LEVEL: Person Specification
Qualifications -
degree or equivalent level (desirable)
Experience
– Experience of working in a marketing or fundraising environment
– Experience of working on marketing or fundraising projects
– Experience of working with external suppliers
Knowledge and Skills
– Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
– Good planning skills and the ability to account manage multiple
fundraising campaigns and projects
– Good understanding of different media channels and print production
process
– Numerate and able to input on budgets (income and expenditure) and
to analyse response data and audience data as required
– Ability to analyse campaign results accurately to compare and assess
viability of campaigns or media channels and make recommendations
– Working knowledge of customer relationship databases including
Raisers Edge (desirable)
– Competent with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
General Attributes
– Ability to work to deadlines
– Ability to work in a team and on own initiative
Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working
relationships including those with external agencies

Part 2: MAIN DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Marketing campaigns and project management 50%

Input to the planning of specific direct marketing projects.

Contribute to the implementation of the direct marketing programme
including management of key external suppliers

Work with the Direct Marketing Officers to ensure all campaigns are
implemented on brief and on schedule and within set processes

Produce timescales and schedules for direct marketing and fundraising
activities ensuring that these are accurate, attainable and adhered to by all
parties involved

Draft data briefs for fundraising and marketing campaigns working with the
Direct Marketing Officers

Ensure all creative is on brief, on brand and suitable for the audience

Work closely with other F&M teams such as Supporter Services and
Database to agree data and response handling requirements while
demonstrating best practice
Analysis, reporting and communications 35%

Produce a weekly report to include key statistics and top-line analysis for
relevant projects

Track, analyse and report back on campaign results including suggested
ways to improve performance and efficiency

Follow-up and collate case studies, background information, key statistics
and images for appeals and other communication

Ensure that key internal teams are aware of campaigns by circulating
information where appropriate and publishing on the intranet

Propose solutions for any issues or delays in projects

Respond directly to donors on a one to one basis in relation to campaigns
including by letter, email and phone to handle complaints and specific
enquiries

Ensure all fundraising marketing is communicated between departments to
ensure messages are consistent
Management of specific ad-hoc projects 15%

Management of specific projects to improve efficiency and maximise income.

Represent the MS Society at meetings with external suppliers

Produce articles and updates for publications and websites, which are
targeted to specific audiences

Write specific letters and other communications
Other Duties

The post holder should be prepared to attend MS Society meetings in different
parts of the country including MS National Centre. Some meetings may be
during evenings or weekends

1. The post holder will be working in a developing environment and he/she will
therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the
effective operation of the MS Society
