Research and Teaching Summary
 Lecturer; I’m presently working as Lecturer, College of Food and Agricultural Science, Plant
Production, Biotechnology Division, KSU, KSA (March 2009 to till date) and actively involved
in Research and Teaching as well as inspire students to explore in unexplored areas and
unearth new vistas by inventing and coining ideas which may prove landmark for generations
to come.
I am also initiated research work as Co-Principal Investigator in self deigned research
project in king Saud University;
1. Cloning Salt Tolerant Genes from Atriplex halimus
2. Standardization of Chickpea Regeneration and Comparative Bio-physiochemical
Analysis
 R. Scientist, PMB, University of Delhi, Delhi- 110021, INDIA (June 2008 – March 2009). I have
been associated with various universities and institutions, I have assigned with the teaching
theory and practical classes of variety of areas from Plant Molecular Biology and
Biotechnology and establishment of Research Lab for fully workable condition.
Standardized rapid and reproducible rice regeneration and transformation protocol.
Construction/Cloning of barnase/barstar vectors with rice tapetum specific promoter and
transformed into hyper virulent Agrobacterium stain. These vectors used for the
transformation of rice for the production of hybrid vigour/heterosis to produced high
yielding varieties.
 Senior Researcher; Biotechnology Lab., Department of Environmental Biology, University of
Delhi, Delhi, India Four Years and five months Research Experience as Senior Research
Fellow (Funded by Department of Biotechnology, India and Indo Swiss Collaboration in
Biotechnology, Switzerland) under Prof P. P. Saradhi in the field of Molecular
Biology/Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. (From April 2001 to Feb. 2008) and
regularly taking M. Sc. (Environmental Biology) practical and theory classes on
Biotechnology/Molecular Biology and also help M. Sc. Project trainees for research,
compilation and completion (Research oriented problem solving) of M. Sc. Project during
the completion of my Ph. D. till 2007.
IPR issues/proprietary rights is a matter of concern therefore, the codAPS gene isolated
from a strain of Arthrobacter sp. (IMTECH, Chandigarh) was used for transforming chickpea
to enhance its tolerance to abiotic stresses. Successfully fine-tuned regeneration and
transformation protocols and developed codAPS transgenic genotypes of chickpea which
showed enhanced tolerance to salinity, drought, low temperature and frost with a superior
anti-oxidant system. Another unique observation made during research study was the
increase in the capacity of codAPS lines to accumulate proline compared to wild type. The
findings presented in my PhD thesis supported by publications like any other scientific
investigation while providing answers to some pre-existing questions has also opened up
new vistas to be pursued in future.
 I have been worked with Dr. K.K. Sharma (Principal Scientist), Genetic Transformation Lab,
International Crop Research Institute in Semi Arid Tropical Region (ICRISAT), Patancheru,
Hyderabad; Dr. M. B. Chetti (Prof. and Head), Dept. of Plant Physiology, UAS, Dharwad
(2002-2004) and Dr. S. Yadav (Principal Scientist) and Dr. Jitendra Kumar (Principal
Scientist), Legume and Pulse Research Centre, Division of Genetics, IARI, PUSA, Delhi, India.
a. Successfully developed chickpea transgenic plants by introducing codA as well as
P5CSF129A gene to enhanced abiotic stress tolerance at GTL, ICRISAT, Hyderabad.
b. To help and train researchers of GTL Lab, ICRISAT, Hyderabad for estimation of proline
and free radical in P5CSF129A chickpea transgenic plants.
 M.Sc. Project Trainee, Prof. MJ Raman, Prof. K Lakhotia and Prof. BD Singh, Department
