Introduction to Quantum Mechanics: An Overview

... despite the lengthening of the void on the x-axis. However, this vacuum does not behave like a spring, and there is no elastic force. As the void increases in volume, it generates and energy field, which in turn creates another quark/anti-quark pair, within the flux tube. The annihilation then uses ...

The question remains whether such fundamental particles with tiny electric charge exist. Levitometer, Millikan-droplet, collider-based experiments [5], and astrophysical (“direct search ...

In this design magnetic field strength may be modified by adjusting the pole separation using iron pole pieces, which are sealed to the chamber using high vacuum grease. The chamber will be filled with low pressure hydrogen gas which will be ionized by electrons rele ...

... The drift chambers make up the first three layers, and determine the paths of charged particles. The next layer is the Cerenkov counters which separate electrons from pions. The following layer is made of the time of flight scintillators to determine time of flight and hence velocity. The calorimete ...

During the project, the student is expected to contribute to the in-house design and construction of a new sub-relativistic electron gun driven by an ultrafast laser system and a radio-frequency source. Such electron guns are currently under development in a small number of laboratories across the w ...

Future Circular Collider

Future Circular Collider (FCC) is an integral conceptual design study for post-LHC particle accelerator options based on a new 80–100-km-circumference tunnel infrastructure. The collaboration is open to scientific institutes and companies of any size from all nations. At the moment there are 57 institutes from 22 nations. The Future Circular Collider study has an emphasis on proton-proton and electron-positron (lepton) high-energy frontier machines. It is exploring the potential of hadron and lepton circular colliders, performing an in-depth analysis of infrastructure and operation concepts and considering the technology research and development programs that would be required to build a future circular collider. A conceptual design report will be delivered before the end of 2018, in time for the next update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics.
