High Speed Analog to Digital Converter Basics
High Speed Analog to Digital Converter Basics

... N: number of digital samples captured n: number of output bits; in this 6-bit ADC example n = 6 Figure 1. Basic ADC Diagram and Terminology Time domain representations often are described as real-world signals. In Figure 1, notice that the analog input’s amplitude is shown in volts (linear) and seco ...

... If we add 1/2 LSB offset to the ADC input, the output code will change 1/2 LSB before it otherwise would. The output changes from 000 to 001 with an input value of 1/2 LSB rather than 1 LSB and all subsequent codes change at a point 1/2 LSB below where they would have changed without the added offse ...

Space Qualification and Performance Results of the SIDECAR ASIC

... About 4 years ago, the development of a new generation of controller for CMOS-based focal plane arrays was initiated at Rockwell Scientific. Instead of making boards filled with discrete electronics components like ADCs, DACs, FPGAs and memories, the idea was to integrate all circuits required for t ...

OPA847 Wideband, Ultra-Low Noise, Voltage-Feedback OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER with Shutdown DESCRIPTION

... The OPA847 provides a unique combination of a very low input voltage noise along with a very low distortion output stage to give one of the highest dynamic range op amps available. Its very high gain bandwidth product (GBP) can be used to either deliver high signal bandwidths at high gains, or to de ...

Compared with using a fixed frequency bandpass filter, a tunable filter may also reduce the number of down-converting stages required in an agile receiver by allowing a greater down-conversion step to be made. A General Theory of Phase Noise in Electrical Oscillators

... Phase and frequency fluctuations have therefore been the subject of numerous studies [1]–[9]. Although many models have been developed for different types of oscillators, each of these models makes restrictive assumptions applicable only to a limited class of oscillators. Most of these models are ba ...

OPA843 Wideband, Low Distortion, Medium Gain, Voltage-Feedback OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER DESCRIPTION

... The OPA843’s combination of speed and dynamic range is useful in a wide variety of application circuits, as long as simple guidelines common to all high-speed amplifiers are observed. For example, good power-supply decoupling, as shown in Figure 1, is essential to achieve the lowest possible harmoni ...

Dither

Dither is an intentionally applied form of noise used to randomize quantization error, preventing large-scale patterns such as color banding in images. Dither is routinely used in processing of both digital audio and video data, and is often one of the last stages of ""mastering"" audio to a CD.A typical use of dither is converting a greyscale image to black and white, such that the density of black dots in the new image approximates the average grey level in the original.
