Four-Chamber Heart Modeling and Automatic
Four-Chamber Heart Modeling and Automatic

... model is more accurate concerning the anatomy, compared to previous closed-surface mesh models [4]–[6]. 2) Important landmarks (e.g., valves and ventricular septum cusps) are explicitly represented in our model as control points1 . These landmarks can be detected reliably to guide the automatic mode ...

... Estimation of aortic valve area (AVA) with transthoracic echocardiographic (TTE)-continuity equation (CE) assumes a circular left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT). We evaluated incremental utility of 3D multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) over TTE assessment of AS severity. Methods and Results— ...

... Heart valves control the flow of blood as it enters the heart and is pumped from the chambers of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation and back to the body. ere are four valves: the tricuspid, mitral, pulmonic and aortic valves. Heart valve disease occurs when a valve cannot open all the way becau ...

Dynamics of the Pulmonary Venous Flow in the Fetus

... Background—The usual positioning of the Doppler sample volume to assess fetal pulmonary vein flow is in the distal portion of the vein, where the vessel diameter is maximal. This study was performed to test the association of the pulmonary vein pulsatility index (PVPI) with the vessel diameter. Meth ...

Mitral insufficiency

Mitral insufficiency (MI), mitral regurgitation or mitral incompetence is a disorder of the heart in which the mitral valve does not close properly when the heart pumps out blood. It is the abnormal leaking of blood backwards from the left ventricle, through the mitral valve, into the left atrium, when the left ventricle contracts, i.e. there is regurgitation of blood back into the left atrium. MI is the most common form of valvular heart disease.
