Synthesis of Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)chromium(III)1 Purpose: A

... The synthesis of new compounds is one of the most central and interesting parts of chemistry. In this laboratory you will synthesize tris(2,4-pentanedionato)chromium(III), which is also written Cr(acac)3 for short. The synthesis of the product and the presence of any undesired byproducts will be ver ...

Coordination complex

In chemistry, a coordination complex or metal complex consists of a central atom or ion, which is usually metallic and is called the coordination centre, and a surrounding array of bound molecules or ions, that are in turn known as ligands or complexing agents. Many metal-containing compounds, especially those of transition metals, are coordination complexes.
