Ultimate Beanbag Toss
Purpose: To work on different types of throws, focusing on accuracy. As well develop
knowledge outside the realm of just the game.
Equipment Needed and Organization of Playing Area
 Bucket
 2 Beanbags
 Frisbee
 Hula-Hoop
 Pylon
Place the hula-hoop, Frisbee and bucket side by side approximately one foot from each
other in a line horizontally. Place the beanbags and pylon 10 feet away from the targets,
directly in the centre of all three.
How to Play
 A bucket, Frisbee and hula-hoop will be place side by side, approximately one foot
from each other. Two groups of pairs, will have to stand at the pylon placed 10 feet
from the frisbee, hula-hoop, and bucket. From this spot each pair will each take a
beanbag and have to toss it into either the hula-hoop, Frisbee, or bucket. The object of
the game is for each team of pairs to gain as many points in a select time frame
against their opposing pair. The Frisbee counts as 3 points, the buckets counts as two
points and the hula-hoop counts as one point. However, each of these targets also
have a question representing each. The hula-hoop represents the question, “Name a
capital of one of the provinces of Canada.” The bucket represents the question, “What
equation can you make with the number two?” for this question students must answer
the math question. The Frisbee asks the question, “What are good qualities to find in
a friend?”. Once the player has answered the question then he/she can continue to
throw the beanbag at the various targets. However, their teammate may not continue
until they have answered the question. To start the time frame is one minute and thirty
seconds.
Safety Tips
 It is important that while playing the teams watch that they do not throw the beanbag
at a target while another player is picking up the beanbag they just threw.
Refinements
 A refinement cue would be to keep your eye on the target and follow through with
your toss to make sure you are accurate in your throw.
Modifications
 A simplification for the game would be to make the distance between the targets and
the pylon shorter. So instead of 10 feet cut it in half to 5 feet.
 An extension to make the game harder would be to throw the beanbag at the target
differently each time.
Inclusion Modification or Strategy
To make the game more inclusive and used as a strategy to earn the optimal amount of
points the pairs could work together as a group of four.

Switch Bowl
Purpose:
Equipment Needed and Organization of Playing Area
 3 bowling pins
 one pylon
 one medium sized bouncy ball
 one whiffle ball
 one tennis ball
 one beanbag
 The three pylons will be set side by side in a line. The pylon will be placed 10 feet
in front of the line of bowling pins directly in the centre. At this side the various
types of balls and the beanbag will be placed there. Groups of 2-4 can work for
this game.
How to Play
With the various objects starting with the medium sized bouncy ball the player
will have to knock down the pins. Once he/she has successfully knocked down all three
that player must align the bowling pins again and the succession will continue where each
player in the group gets a turn. In the second round the team will now have to use a tennis
ball. In the third round the team will use a whiffle ball and lastly the group will then have
to try to use a beanbag to knock over the pins. One pin accounts for one point, two pins
for 2, 3 pins for 3, if the player knocks all down in one shot they receive 5 points.
Safety Tips
It is important that the groups in the gym be careful of where they are throwing
the ball and to wait for the previous player to line up the pylons before beginning.
Refinements
A refinement cue would be to keep you eye on the target and try to focus on
throwing the ball directly down the middle from the three pylons to assure that all would
be knocked down at once.
Modifications
A simplification for this game would be to make the distance between the
bowling pins and the pylon shorter by cutting the distance from 10 feet to approximately
5 feet.
An extension of the game to make it harder would be to have to use an implement
to hit the ball, such as a hockey stick, or shuffle board stick.
Inclusion Modification or Strategy
A strategy the players could use would be to work in pairs against another pair of
players to gain the maximum amount of points and for each individual to use their
strengths. For example, one person may be better at throwing the ball and knocking over
all 3 pins but their partner is better with effort and has an easier time of knocking down
the pins successfully with the beanbag.
