Adding Integers
(+) + (+) = (+)
 A positive plus a positive is positive.
(-) + (-) = (-)
A negative plus a negative is negative.
(+) + (-) = subtract and use the sign of
the larger integer

Subtracting integers is really “adding the
opposite!”
Follow the following rules:
 1st integer stays the same
 Change minus sign to a plus sign
Use the opposite of the second integer
Follow rules for addition of integers

 Same Signs = Answer is Positive
(+) x/÷ (+) = (+)
(-) x/÷ (-) = (+)
Different Signs = Answer is
Negative
