A huge body of air that stays together

Air masses can form over land or
water
Those that form over land have dry air

When an air mass forms near the
equator, it is warm air

When it forms near the poles, it is cold

When two air masses meet, they do
not mix
Instead, they form a boundary, or
front

A cold front forms when a cold air
mass moves into a warm air mass
The weather changes suddenly when a
cold front arrives
