The slower the cooling rate, the larger the crystals formed.
3) What are the steps by which mineral deposits form around chimneys on
the ocean floor?
Ocean water seeps through cracks in the crust. Magma heats the water to
high temperatures. Heated water dissolves minerals in the crust, rushed
upward, and billows out of “chimneys.” In the cold sea, minerals
crystallize and settle.
