Geometry Unit 10 Plan – 12 Periods Unit of Study: Circles Geometry Unit 10 Standard(s) to be Assessed HSG-C.A.2 Identify and describe relationships among inscribed angles, radii, and chords. Include the relationship between central, inscribed, and circumscribed angles; inscribed angles on a diameter are right angles; the radius of a circle is perpendicular to the tangent where the radius intersects the circle Learning Target to be Assessed LT1: Identify and describe relationships among angles, radii, and chords. LT2: Identify and describe relationships among central, inscribed, and circumscribed angles. LT3: Apply the relationship in a circle in which inscribed angles on a diameter are right angles. LT4: Apply the relationship in a circle in which the radius of a circle is perpendicular to the tangent where the radius intersects the circle. HSG-C.A.3 (supporting standard) Construct the inscribed and circumscribed circles of a triangle, and prove properties of angles for a quadrilateral inscribed in a circle LT5: Apply properties of angles for a quadrilateral inscribed in a circle. HSG-CO.D.13 (supporting standard) Construct an equilateral triangle, a square, and a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle. LT6: Construct an equilateral triangle, a square, and a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle. Pre/Post Angle Relationships Assessment Item #s Unit Common Assessment Item #s 33 1, 2, 3, 4 30 5, 6, 7 8 31 9 10 Notes: Instruction should include constructions related to HSG-CO.D.13 and learning target 6 for constructing an equilateral triangle, a square, and a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle. The first part of HSG-C.A.3 is included in Unit 5 instruction but not assessed on the common assessment. Identifying and describing the relationships including secants and tangents should be included in instruction for this unit.
