Thin film polycrystalline solar cells based Culn1-xGaxSe2 have been
fabricated and studied with x values from 0 to 1.0.
The lattice
parameters, grain size, and band gap were measured. Crystal structure
and X-ray data of Culn1-xGaxSe2 were determined using X-ray
diffractometry . These materials had a cubic structure with x ≥ 0.5 and a
tetragonal structure with x ≤ 0.5. The lattice constant vary linearly with
composition.
The variation in band gap with composition was
determined for these films from optical absorption measurement, which
showed that the band gap varied linearly over composition range. Grain
size was measured using scanning electron microscopy ( SEM) where the
grain size measured linearly with Ga Content.
