CW: Investigating Linear Pairs and Vertical Angles Relationships
As a child you learned by experimenting with the natural world around you. You learned how to walk, to talk,
and to ride your first bicycle, all by trial and error. You achieved most of your learning by a process called
inductive reasoning. It is the process of observing data, recognizing patterns, and making generalizations
about those patterns.
Inductive reasoning guides scientists, investors, and business managers. All of these professionals use past
experience to assess what is likely to happen in the future.
When you use inductive reasoning to make a generalization, the generalization is called a conjecture.
Today’s Geometry Goals:
1) Create 2+ methods/ways of thinking for determining the relationship between:
a) Angles in a LINEAR PAIR.
b) VERTICAL ANGLES.
2) Justify WHY your methods show a convincing argument for your conclusions.
Today’s TEAM Goals:
1) Emphasize keeping the ENERGY IN THE MIDDLE by using effective LEANING IN strategies.
2) Everyone contributes at least once using a different color pencil.

Linear Pair Relationship
Use a ruler to create a LINEAR PAIR of angles. (Make it BIG!)
Label them angle 1 and 2.
What is the relationship between angles?
Come up with 2+ methods/ways of thinking to arrive at your conclusion.
Method 1:
Method 2:
Why do your methods demonstrate a convincing argument for your conclusion?
Method 1 provides a convincing argument BECAUSE… Method 2 provides a convincing argument BECAUSE…
C-1 Linear Pair Conjecture
If two angles form a linear pair, then ___________________________________________________________.
Vertical Angles Relationship
Use a ruler to draw 2 intersecting lines. (Make it BIG!)
Label the angles 1, 2, 3, and 4.
