The West Virginia Association of Professional Soil Scientists (WVAPSS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to foster the profession of soil science and to promote the use of sound soil science in the utilization of our land resources. The objective of the Association is to advance the profession of soil science in the state of West Virginia. This includes the following: Promote the wise utilization of soils as a natural resource. Protect public welfare by encouraging legislation to establish state registration of soil scientists. Advance the professional interests of the professional soil scientist. Advance the professional interests of the soil scientist through training. Promote high standards of education in soil science. Enhance public knowledge and appreciation of soil science. Establish high standards of ethical conduct in all professional matters. The need for a directory of consulting soil scientists in West Virginia has resulted in the following directory of WVAPSS members who offer these services. CONSULTING SOIL SCIENTIST DIRECTORY Year 2001 WVAPSS WEST VIRGINIA ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL SOIL SCIENTISTS What Can a Professional Soil Scientist Do For You? A Professional Soil Scientist is trained to observe and identify soil properties that can be used to determine such things as depth to seasonal high water table, soil permeability, potential productivity and other potentially use-limiting soil features. They can provide information for specific sites. The following WVAPSS members provide consulting soil services to the public. The types of services provided are listed with each entry. Individuals are listed alphabetically on the list. Charles H.
