SPANISH BEGINNERS FRAMEWORK
TERM 1
Topics and grammar that will be covered in the FIRST TERM, i.e. the first 10
sessions (of 2 hours each) of the Spanish beginners course are:
Topics for first term
 Greetings/introducing oneself/personal profile (be able to give name,
nationality, profession/occupation, address, e-mail address, telephone
number… etc)
 Alphabet spelling (your name, towns).
 Formal/informal register of speech & pronunciation guidelines
 Numbers as in: prices, telephone numbers, quantities, clock time, dates,
age and understanding timetables such as in shops, restaurants, theatre,
cinema etc…
 Buying food + drink in/at (super)market and order food & drink in
restaurant
Language focus for first term of learning
Definite & indefinite articles
Some necessary prepositions (from, to, in, of… etc)
Nouns (singular + plural)
Verbs (in present tense only) most common group focusing mainly on the
singular pronouns verb-forms (I/you/he/she/usted/ it forms). (Depending
on the verb and topic the plural forms may be introduced too.)
 Formulating negative sentences
 Formulating closed questions only in this term (open questions come in
second term)
 Expression of quantity (e.g. when ordering/buying food) (a packet, a kilo,
a cup of, a tin of.. a glass of…, a lot of etc)




