Competition Format
Final
Five runs for each of the eight (8) competitors.
Each competitor will complete a first run and will receive a first run score.
Each competitor will complete a second run and will receive a second run score.
Each competitor will complete a third run and will receive a third run score.
Each competitor will complete a fourth run and receive a fourth run score.
Each competitor will complete a fifth run and receive a fifth run score.
The greatest score of each competitor’s first run score, second run score, third run
score, fourth run score, and fifth run score will be assigned to that competitor’s final
run score.
Competitors are ranked 1-8 on the Final Leaderboard based on final run score.

The Start Order will be set by a random draw with influence.
In Start Order, all 8 competitors will take a first run.

Progress
An athlete may voluntarily withdraw from any round or part of a competition for
any reason, by notifying Director of Sports & Competition at any time. In addition,
the Director of Sports & Competition reserves the right to remove (i.e., withdraw
involuntarily) any athlete from further competition whenever the best interests of the
X Games would be served by such removal; for example, in the case where the
Medical Staff, after examining an athlete, declines to issue medical clearance for
that athlete to compete.
The goal of the Director of Sports & Competition is to run all X Games
competitions, heats, brackets, rounds, etc. with a full complement of scheduled
athletes. For example, if a bracketed competition is designed to start with six
participants in a six-lane Start Gate, then the goal of the Director of Sports &
Competition is to fill every gate at the start of any bracket run. In an effort to
achieve the above stated goal, while maintaining the scheduled flow, smooth
execution, and integrity of each competition, two (2) distinct athlete replacement
procedures are followed by the Director of Sports and Competition.
I. Replace and Re-Order Procedure:
Invoked when an athlete is replaced at least one (1) hour prior to scheduled start.

If an athlete who otherwise would participate in, or advance to, a round of
competition withdraws or is withdrawn from a competition at least one (1) hour
prior to the scheduled start of that round of competition (or within five (5) minutes
of the completion of the last bracket in a round), the Director of Sports &
Competition may replace the withdrawn athlete on the Start List for the upcoming
round as follows:
1. The last completed round’s (or bracket’s) final order does not change.
2. The last completed round’s (or bracket’s) final order is used to create a
Withdrawn Adjusted Order (“WAO”) which moves the withdrawing
athlete from an advancing position as follows:
a. The withdrawn competitor’s position on the WAO is vacated;
b. Beginning one position below the vacated position on the WAO
and ending at the position of the first available competitor
beyond the last advancing position on the WAO, each competitor
moves to the first available position above them on the WAO;
c. The withdrawn competitor is moved to the first available
position beyond the last advancing position on the WAO.
(Note: if more than one competitor withdraws, steps 2a, 2b,
and 2c are performed once for each withdrawn competitor.)
3. When all adjustments have been made to the WAO to account for
each withdrawn competitor who otherwise would have advanced,
the Start List for the next round is built using the WAO. The WAO
is then discarded. The WAO is not published – it is an internal
worksheet document only.
II. Last Minute Swap Procedure:
Invoked when an athlete is replaced within one (1) hour of the scheduled start.
If an athlete who otherwise would advance to a subsequent round of competition
withdraws or is withdrawn from a competition within one (1) hour of the scheduled
start of the next round of that competition, the Competition Director may replace the
withdrawn athlete on the Start List for the subsequent round as follows:
1. The Start List for the upcoming round or bracket is NOT reshuffled,
recalculated or reseeded.
2. The withdrawing athlete’s spot on the Start List is vacated.
3. The replacing athlete takes the withdrawn athlete’s spot on the Start List.
4. The replacement athlete will be assigned their own unique Seed Value per
the method established for that competition (i.e., the replacing athlete does
NOT “inherit” the Seed Value of the withdrawing athlete’s spot on the Start
List). For any subsequent comparisons of Seed Value in the competition,
the replacing athlete will use their own Seed Value.
Computation of Scores

Each of the 5 individual judges scores a competitor on a whole number 100-point
scale. The highest score and the lowest score are thrown out. The 3 remaining
scores are added together and divided by three. The resulting value is formatted to
two (2) decimal places (e.g. 89.66). In all cases the value is truncated after the
second decimal place rather than rounded.

Scoring Changes
Limits
Judges may change scores up until the Head Judge releases the scores into the
scoring system for display and publication, any request to change a score after this
point requires approval from the Director of Sports and Competition.
Resolving Ties
Final
Should a competitor receive the same score on multiple runs, the run with the
“greater total from summing all five individual judge scores ” is the better run.
Tiebreakers are applied in order as follows:
1. Averaging the 5 judge’s scores from the best run breaks the tie.
2. The 2nd best run score breaks the tie.
3. Averaging the 5 judges scores from the 2nd best run score breaks the tie.
4. The 3rd best run score breaks the tie.
5. Averaging the 5 judges scores from the 3rd best run score breaks the tie.
6. The 4th best run score breaks the tie.
7. Averaging the 5 judges scores from the 4th best run score breaks the tie.
8. The 5th best run score breaks the tie.
9. Averaging the 5 judges scores from the 5th best run score breaks the tie.
10. The head judge will break the tie.
Results
Final
The Final Leaderboard, which ranks the competitors 1-8 based on each
competitor’s final run score.
