This is Living in Balance so we are balanced, right. Praise God! Living in Balance, now
you will see this on the test again. Balance is not synonymous with compromise, okay. I have
already communicated that. It is just you are going to see it on the test, okay. Balance is not
synonymous, equal to, the same as compromise, okay. So some people will bash the statement
of balance by saying you know you are compromising you know grace or whatever. You are
not. There is a balance, okay, in life. Alright so, this is actually officially Session 7. We have
not finished, I mean Session 5. We have not finished Session 4 and we will do that. But I want
to tell you a funny first. This is called It Might Be You.
A man feared his wife was not hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might
need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her he called the family doctor to discuss the
problem. The doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform that
would give the doctor a better idea about her hearing; measure of hearing loss. “Here is what
you do” said the doctor. “Stand about 40 feet away from her and in a normal conversational
speaking tone see if she hears you. If not go to 30 feet then 20 feet and so on until you get a
response.”
That evening his wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner. He was in the den so he says to
himself, “I am about 40 feet away, let see what happens.” Then in a normal tone he says,
“Honey, what is for dinner?” No response. So the husband moves closer to the kitchen about 30
feet away from his wife and repeats, “Honey, what is for dinner?” Still no response; next he
moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, “Honey, what is
for dinner?” again, no response.
So he walks up to the kitchen door about 10 feet away, “Honey, what is for dinner?”
Again, there is no response so he walks right up behind her and says, “Honey, what is for
dinner?” She said, “Ralph, for the fifth time I said I told you chicken!” It might be you. It
might be you, Ralph. It might be you. Alright, Praise God! So you will figure that one out
tomorrow.
So we are living in balance and remember what I just shared with you about things that
God taught me about how to develop a personal relationship with the Word, I am telling you. It
just it was personal download stuff to me; that helped me keep this being real. Keep it from
being a legalistic law type thing, you know. And so, you know I will just reiterate those again
as, well, maybe I will not. Let me see. Yeah, let me find my outline here.
So I decided to let the Bible shape my doctrine and belief system instead of making it fit
into my former belief system. Do you know how many people do that? They read through their
doctrinal; they read the Bible through their doctrinal glasses. That is a suicide. That is doctrinal
suicide. Are you hearing me? It is doctrinal suicide.

Then I decided to align my finances, my business, my behavior, my treatment of others
with the Word #2. Then #3 I decided to be an Acts 17:11 Christian who was committed to check
out the Word by what is being taught. I did not just take every Bible word what is being taught.
I did not take everything on face value. I am not obligated to act on it unless I check it out and I
see that it is in the Bible two or three places and it is consistent with what I understand about the
character and nature of Jesus.
Then I decided to make the Word the final authority in my decisions instead of my
emotions and feelings. And #5 I decided to make the fear of the Lord and a love for His Word a
higher value than the fear and-or approval of men. So you know what that, you know you guys
know what that means. Many of you risked that when you came here. How many of you faced
some of that when you came here, yeah. So you know what I am talking about. You had to
make a; you had to take; it was risk. It was sometimes relational suicide in some cases. And but
you, you just said you know what I am going with God if it harelips the pope and all my family,
yeah. You just made that decision did you not, okay.
Now you know man, when I had a, you know I risked the wrath of my parents and inlaws over discipline and other decisions related to our children. And my oldest son is a great
leader and man of God today. But I am telling you he needed a lot of attention. Doctor Dobson
never met Brian when he wrote The Strong-Willed Child or he would have written two or three
more chapters. Or I could write two or three more chapters for him.
You know I risked losing favor and approval from my dad that I desperately wanted by
leaving a successful business to pursue the call of God on my life. And I mean you know all my
family and friends thought I was crazy; nuts. You know what that is like do you, huh? You guys
are just totally, you lost it, you know. And man, I mean so many things, but look guys, my soul
is anchored in the Lord and my relationship with Him and it gives me faith to allow a shaking of
relationships even if people that you know, so that those that would not be shaken would remain.
And my love for God His Word is what motivates me to forgive and release and pray for
people and bless those that have hurt or betrayed or rejected me or offended me. I mean the
Word is the anchor of my soul. I am not just standing up here talking to you about this. This is
my, Janice and my life. This is how we live. I do not mean that in some kind of a prideful
statement. I am just telling you this is our commitment to draw on God’s grace that we are going
to go with God and His Word. It does not matter if everybody just does not like it, yeah.
And without it you are a ship tossed at sea with no anchor, no compass, moved about by
every wind of doctrine and you will live an unbalanced life, an unbalanced life. Now I am just
going to give you these answers really quickly, okay. Just some, these are just things from the
Word that talk about knowing the Word what it will do. Knowing the Word will cause me to
know God. I have given you scriptures for that. ‘B’ will bring me peace, bring me peace. ‘C’

will keep me free from deception. ‘D’ will cause me to grow. ‘E’ will keep me from sin. ‘F’
will give me direction. Do you know it is possible for a Christian to sin? I just wanted to see if
you all are, is it possible for a Christian to do that, okay.
Some of the messages I hear lately it is not possible, yeah. Yeah, that is not even an issue
anymore. No, you are just deceived that is the problem. Okay, ‘D’ Cause me to grow. ‘E’ Keep
me from sin. ‘F’ Give me direction, give me direction. ‘G’ Impart wisdom and understanding to
me. ‘H’ Bring healing to me. This is a lot of benefits is it not?
‘I’ Help me to distinguish the spirit from the flesh. ‘J’ Help me to recognize and know
God’s voice. The more I know His Word guys, the more you know His Word, the more you
know and understand His character and you can measure what you hear by the character you
understand from the Word that is His character and not just one aspect of his character. ‘K’
Multiply grace to me. You know grace can be multiplied? You could have more or less of it.
Now you know in your spirit you are, you got it. But I am talking about you can receive
more or less of it in your soul and in your body. ‘L’ Give me long life. ‘M’ produce faith. ‘G’
gives me joy. Is that it? Is there a couple more? Okay, I do not have them. Alright, let me see
if I can give you the answers, okay. Let us see. ‘Q’ and ‘T’ let us see, I do not know, strengthen
us. Empower us, whatever. It is good. Transform us, give us life and then ‘T’ is bring people
into the kingdom. Bring people into the kingdom, okay, yeah. Empower, encourage, strengthen;
any of those words will work that in ‘Q’ okay.
Alright, so let us go to Lesson officially Lesson 5 now, okay. If you did not get all that
get it from your neighbor; it is okay. It is not, most of that is not, a lot of that is not going to be
on the test. So, it is in your, it is your test of life. But man, the Word of God does all that stuff.
Man, when you understand it makes you hungry to get into the Word. And here is the deal
guys, do not, look. Look up here. Do not depend on Andrew or me or Barry or, you know, Dan
or Lawson or someone else for your relationship with God, and your revelation from the Word.
Man! God has got downloads for you, yeah. He wants to reveal things to you. And if
you will make this, you know, “Lord, I want a relationship with you through your Word. I want
this to be life to me. I want you to give me downloads.” Man, it is kind of like what it was for
me in 1976 when I first started pursing. This book was a dark book to me. You know it was like
I was drilling for oil or water and I had to drill and drill and drill; John, drill, drill, drill. But all
of a sudden I hit a gusher and you know what it has not stopped flowing yet. It has not stopped
flowing.
And I still, I approach this Word like in some cases in some ways like I have never read it
before. I still have this awe of God that He would give us His Word, He would reveal Himself to
us through His Word and man, the Holy Spirit showed me more of God, you know. It is

awesome, yeah. It is awesome! And He would entrust us with this. It is awesome, guys,
powerful!
So Session 5 now, the balance, again the balance with the Word and the Spirit. We see
the Spirit and the Word working together in creation do we not? I am not going to read all of
‘B’. It just reemphasizes the fact that the Word and the Spirit are one. The Spirit of God is not
going to lead you to do something that violates the Word of God. You know I have had people
come to me and tell me you know they are married and they finally found their soul mate and it
is not their mate, okay. No, listen, man, you are just that is your flesh, okay. The problem is if
your grass, if the grass is greener on the other side, the problem is you need to water your own.
That is the problem. You have not been watering.
Husbands and wives, where are you at? Okay, you have a responsibility to feed your
mate. You minister to them. You water them. You water that relationship. Whenever my wife
and I are having issues and we do not very often. But when we do, it is usually my bad and I am
not saying that you know, tongue in cheek or anything. It is usually because I have not, I mean.
She, Janice is a good girl and it is usually because I have not been tending to my garden. I have
not been complimenting her. I have not been considering her. I have not been thinking about
her. I have been focused on what I am doing. I have not brought her in to partner in my life
what is going on.
That is why there are times I just want her to come in here and be a part because she is a
part of my life and you know, you are not going to be around forever, okay. I mean me and you,
maybe. But you know I mean but I am, but me and her we are friends. And so, we have
responsibility, yeah, while you are here at school. And you are not too spiritual to minister to
your mate’s needs. And it is best for you to find out what those are and then you pour yourself
into meeting your mate’s needs with all your heart, amen. And it would be good for you to read
the Five Love Languages though that is not necessarily you know, verse by verse study. But it
just helps you to focus on what ministers love to your mate. It is not usually the same thing that
ministers love to you, yeah. And anyway, that is good.
And I have had people come to me and tell me stuff like that and no, you are not
listening. The Spirit of God did not lead you to violate the Bible. The problem is, okay,
Ephesians 5 (verses 25 and 26) says husbands are to love their wives and wash them with the
water of the Word. Is that right? So husbands are to minister to their wives with words. Do not
tell me you cannot do it. You did it while you were courting her. Okay, man it sure gets quiet in
here when we, okay. But then the Bible says in 1 Peter 3 (verse 1) that wives are to win their
husbands without words. That does not mean you do not talk. That is impossible, okay. That
just means that after you talk that then you minister.

You respect. You support. You be your husband’s cheerleader, his number one fan; and
pour on the affection and the love, yeah. And see, but how is it with us. You know women are
trying to win their husbands with words and men are trying to win their wives without words.
How is that working for you, huh? “Well I am just not the communicator.” No, you are just,
you have got grace. Say, “I have got grace…to minister to my mate…the way the Bible says to
do it.” Amen, alright, great!
So, you know we talked about prophetic people. They tend to emphasize the move of the
Spirit, worship and prayer. It is never enough. Prophetic people I love them but it is never
enough move of the Spirit, okay. Now God never called, never called you to a church to govern
that church through your prophetic gift or to straighten people out. It is not appropriate. But
teachers tend to emphasize the ministry of the Word over the demonstration of the Spirit, move
of the Spirit and worship and prayer which is all part of the Word. And what my job, if you are
going to, let us say you are over a ministry, alright, or over a church.
So in a ministry you are going to have some event and people are going to come to your
event, okay. What do you want the Holy Spirit to do through your ministry? You want Him to
transform people, right, change people. Well you need to then yield to the Holy Spirit and allow
Him to direct what is going on. Alright, “Holy Spirit what do you want to do today?” “Well I
just want you to worship.” “Well, I mean I got a message though.” “No, I will get my message
across through, if you just obey me.” Sometimes guys it is just about you and I being willing to
look bad, because I do not know what to do next, yeah.
Now look, you know I asked my pastor one time, I said, “Do you ever get up to speak
without a sermon, I mean without a message?” He said, “Oh yeah! But never without a
sermon!” So he is always prepared. But the bottom line is if it is not what God wants to do, let
God do what He wants to do, yeah. Can we just let God do, could we, will we be willing to look
bad like David, (2 Samuel 6:22) “…I will be…more undignified than this...” If that is what it
takes to get the Word across to people, man I, who cares. It is not about our image is it? But
here is what happens unconsciously. You know we want our ministries to grow do we not. We
want our church to grow, and so unconsciously we are going to be tempted to try to impress
people about how much we know; all this stuff.
Well, remember, you can never bless those you are trying to impress. And until I got that
through my brain, and I got that out of the way, and I stopped trying to impress people then
things happened. It did not matter. If you like me, do not like me; God likes me and God called
me. God sent me. So I am just going to let Him do what He wants to do, yeah. Are you with
me? So we need to learn to be Spirit people like that. If we are going to become balanced,
mature Christians we must be both Word people and Spirit people. It is not either-or. It is bothand, yeah. Jesus knew the Word and followed the leading of the Spirit. So did His disciples and
so must you and me.

The last session we talked about the importance of knowing the Word. This session we
are going to talk about knowing the Holy Spirit. Knowing the Holy Spirit will benefit you in the
following ways: ‘A’ Will reveal the truth to you, reveal the truth to you. Surely I will pour out
my Spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. So the Holy Spirit is the one who gives
us revelation of the Word is He not. Why should that surprise us? He is the author of the Word.
(2Timothy 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine…reproof…correction… [and] …instruction in righteousness.” But apart from knowing
the Holy Spirit our understanding of the Word will be limited to the cerebral. You know what I
mean, our limited IQ. You are not going to understand God depending on your understanding.
In fact that is the problem for many of us. The reason why we do not go to the next levels that
God has for us, we are limiting our faith walk with God to what our minds can understand; what
this peanut brain can figure out. You need to let God roast your peanut; just saying, because that
is the problem.
You say you want a move of God. You say you want things to you know flow and
everything and you got this peanut in the way. Just roast it, man! Have a burnt sacrifice with it
and lean not unto it again, yeah. You can quote me. A famous quote: roast your peanut.
Hallelujah! He is the Spirit of truth is he not? Okay, so He knows the truth. He knows how to
help us sort out conflicting priorities or principles like the situation with the Pharisees and Jesus.
When the woman was caught with adultery, do you remember that situation? Okay, here
we have a perfect example which is what you are going to face in ministry. In times of decision
making is you are going to face at times, and see. If it is a difference between, a distinction
between good and evil the decision is easy is it not, okay. But many times it is, you have got
conflicting principles here. Here on one hand the woman is caught in adultery and the, you
know the justice says you know she has got to be put, sown to death. And on the other hand you
have got mercy.
Now we understand on this side of the cross, we understand Jesus paid the price for that.
But that had not happened yet. And so Jesus kneels down, remember? Okay, He took time to
kneel down, alright. And what did He do then? He started writing or drawing on the ground.
What was He drawing on the ground? We do not know. It could have been the names of all of
the Pharisees’ girlfriends. I do not know, but maybe none of that. But here is what I know He
was doing. While He was drawing on the ground He was taking time to draw on the Father for
wisdom.
And what was He looking, look, “Father you are going to have to show me what principle
trumps the other at this point, and I am going to go with the one you tell me.” And see, you
know it was dangerous for Him to go with mercy because then what are you going to do with the
justice. But what did Jesus do? He said, “Your sins are forgiven. (John 8:11) “…go, and sin no

more.” Yeah and so how are you going to know when you have those conflicting priorities and
you will. I said, “You will!” And you cannot run from it. You got to draw on God’s wisdom
and say, “Lord, what is the best interest of the people I am serving here?” Not ‘what is going to
make me look good.’ How can I serve the people here? What is the best decision for them and
remember I have told you, you know, you want to walk in wisdom in your decisions.
How many of you want to walk in wisdom in your decisions all the time. Alright, here is
how you do it. Wisdom and love are sisters. Wisdom and love are sisters; they are twin sisters.
If you will take the time, when you have a decision to make, and you will circumcise your heart
from any selfish motive you will find that is love then. You are making an unselfish decision.
When you find love you will find wisdom; because love will always do the right thing for the
other person. And it is not the same all the time.
Sometimes it is be real merciful to them and do everything for them. Like I shared with
you I think in the first maybe the second lesson. That sometimes it is ‘bear one another’s
burdens.’ Sometimes it is ‘let them bear their own’, yeah. Which one is love at the time? It is
going to depend on the individual. It is not the same for everyone. Somebody that is abusing the
system it is time for them to grow up, put their big boy pants on and take responsibility, and you
cannot love them by doing it for them now.
It is going to be different each time and so you cannot just be Word people by having a
bunch of facts in your brain, logged in your file cabinets of your brain, or the file folders in your,
you know in your email, you know. So that what you have got to do where you just pull out and
throw it at a situation. No! What we have got to do is be Spirit people where, “Lord, would you
show me which part of this Word applies in this situation?” And that is love and that is wisdom
and that is good leadership. Are you with me?
We have got to be Word and Spirit people, guys. Do not go out of here just with file
folders filled with knowledge and facts and just indiscriminately pull one out. You will kill
people, spiritually. You will unintentionally minister the law to them. And just because you are
counseling someone and the last time maybe it is almost the same exact problem. And last time
you know God gave you this and this and this scripture and all of a sudden you know you have
got the same kind of problem. So you just pull that thing out and you try to apply it in this
situation. And you will fail with that couple or that individual, because nobody is the same and
no situation is the same.
And we must be Word and Spirit people. And the Word of the Spirit of God will lead
you to apply the Word of God that people need. Are you with me? So, let see where we at?
Yeah, ‘8’ He can show us things in the Bible that we did not ever know were there. Has the
Lord ever spoken to you, the Spirit of God spoken to you something you had not even read

before, did not know it was there or remember that was there. And then later you read it, “Oh,
that is, I see that.” You know that is what happened with Kenneth Hagin.
The enemy was assaulting him that he was going to die young and this scripture kept
coming to him and he had never read it. He thought it might have sounded good. (Psalm 91:16)
“…with long life will I satisfy [you] (him,) and show [you] (him) my salvation.” And he
believed that and got healed. Later God showed him where it was in the Word.
John 14:26 “…the Holy Spirit…will teach us all things.” How many of you know He
knows everything about everything. #9, He knows everything about everything. (1 John 2:20
KJV) “…you have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things.” The Holy Spirit
will teach you everything you need to know about anything that you need to know. Now again
take that in the context of what we said the other day. That God will give you all things but not
everything.
He will give you all things that you need to know within the context of what His grace
has assigned you to know. You can know that. The rest of it I set on the shelf. Sometimes why
people go home to be with the Lord early, you prayed, you were in faith, you thought they were
in faith as much as you knew. They were believing and still they went home to be with the Lord.
I do not know. I am not going to get stuck on that, okay. I do not have all the answers.
Sometimes they get a vision of heaven and decide they want to go on. Sometimes they are
telling you they believe but they really do not. You do not know. We do not know. So you
know what the stuff we do not know we need to commit to God and do not let it get you stuck,
yeah. Just commit it to God and go on.
But I tell you this, when you get to heaven here is what is going to happen. You are
going to have a whole lot of this going on: “Oh! Ah! I see! I understand! You were good!
You were right! You were fair!” It just did not seem like it. Again, your ‘seem-er’ is what gets
you in trouble. That little peanut brain, that peanut we talked about that needs to be roasted.
Your ‘seem-er’ it just did not seem right. Well, forget about your ‘seem-er’. Your ‘seem-er’
will get you in trouble. Are you with me? I could get off here. I better not. I better stay focused
but.
So the Holy Spirit will teach you everything you need to know about anything. He
abides in you. He will teach, the anointing in you will teach you. Many times in the presence of
God people have not been taught this. It is like if I am in a prayer line and somebody is praying
for me, whether I fall out, do not fall out; does not matter. But I am staying in the presence of
God something is going on, on the inside of me and I am praying in the Spirit of God, let the
Holy Spirit teach me what He wants to teach me. There is something He wants to teach me,
yeah.

Then the Holy Spirit will teach, then John 14:26 one of the Holy Spirit’s ministries to us
is to give us supernatural recall. He will bring to your remembrance all things I have said to
you. So you know what you can use that on your test. Holy Spirit you will give me supernatural
recall, yeah. Yeah! Then ‘B’ He will give you wisdom. (John 16:13) “…when He, the Spirit of
truth, has come, He will guide into all the truth…” He will show you what part of the truth to
apply to a specific situation. Again, the woman caught in adultery; that situation.
Isaiah 50, verse 4, “The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should
know how to speak A word in season…” Everybody say, “In season.” So is it possible then to
speak a word out of season? Okay, has anybody ever spoken a word to you that was not in
season, you know. It did not bless you did it. You know some corrective word or something
that was, and not that any corrective word would ever be wrong. But man, sometimes, see what
people need guys is a word in season and it takes the Holy Spirit to show you what people need;
just because you know something about someone. Maybe you see a situation, okay, that
somebody is dealing with. And maybe you have the answer but you got to follow the Holy Spirit
and follow the season for ministering that word. It might not be that they are ready to receive it
and so you know what you can do you can intercede and pray for that person that God will open
their heart to the truth.
Maybe you are never the one to even tell them about that. Maybe you just pray that over
them. Like the Apostle Paul said, (Galatians 4:19) “…I travail in birth again until Christ be
formed in (you).” them. That was Christians he was praying for that Christ be formed in them.
Christ was formed in their spirit but maybe not, obviously not fully in their soul. So a word in
season; how many of you have ever seen God minister to you or through you a word in season.
Did that bless you? Man! It is awesome is it not! And then let me see again. How many of you
either given or received a word out of season. I have, okay and that was not a blessing was it.
No!
So this requires sensitivity to the Holy Spirit to connect with people and impart truth they
will receive. The Spirit knows where people are and they know what they need. Sometimes
mercy, sometimes they need a rebuke a general rebuke, a correction. But when you rebuke
people, when you correct people here is how you keep it from being law or legalism. You appeal
to their new creation man or woman on the inside, yeah. See then I am telling them, listen, you
are better than that. You know you do not have to do that. You, listen, you have got God’s
grace on the inside of you, yeah.
Okay, so, then on page 3 now, people are not clones. They need people to minister the
truth in love and help them draw close to the Lord and act on His Word. This is how to
determine what to feed people from the Word. When I am praying about what to teach or
minister I am seeking God asking the Holy Spirit to show me. He knows what they need. What
part of this Word, I cannot just dump the whole thing on them. I have done that before. That

does not go over so well. Give them the whole cafeteria, man. Give them the whole restaurant
in one setting, you know. That did not go so well.
“What part of this Word do they need, Lord? What part of it?” And then you pray, you
seek the Lord and then sometimes, most of the times it is just you know out of the overflow of
what God has been blessing me with or sometimes it is just, you know I just have this desire to
speak on this and minister on this. And so that is what I do and so it takes the Holy Spirit though
to show us what people need to keep a balanced diet. You cannot just tell people, you cannot
just teach from Ephesians 1, 2 and 3. Are you hearing me? How many of you know, how many
chapters does Ephesians have? Sometimes you have to teach from Ephesians 4, 5 and 6. 4, 5
and 6 emphasize responsibility. 1, 2 and 3 emphasize blessing. And you know we all want to
preach on the blessing. But sometimes there is responsibility and sometimes that is what for
people to grow they have to hear both, right. And so the Holy Spirit knows what they need.
Then ‘C’ the Holy Spirit will prepare us for the future. (John 16:13) “…when he the
Spirit of truth, is come…he will show you things to come.” Look guys, if animals could follow
their instincts and move to higher ground ahead of the tsunami, how much more people full of
the Holy Spirit follow the Spirit and find protection from financial, health, relational or other
tsunamis in their lives. Are you hearing me? Man, do you know the, there was a large
percentage of people who worked at the Twin Towers on 9-11 were not there because something
was telling them not to be there. You do not even hear the stories.
Do you know those planes that went down on 9-11; one of them had like what 13 people
on it. How many planes take off with 13 people in it? I am telling you guys, the Holy Spirit was
speaking to people to cancel that flight, do not go here; do not go there. I have done a scientific
study with people who have gone through; who have lived through tragic accidents and clearly
nine out of ten of them will tell me afterwards, “Something was telling me not to go. Something
was telling me to wait. Something was telling me I just needed to cancel that appointment” or
whatever. And we need to be Holy Spirit people.
Andrew tells the story about when he was I think was he going to Honduras or
somewhere. Was it Honduras? And he had already canceled the flight. Once he just canceled it
and then they you know they were upset but the plane went down and he was not on that plane.
Paul Milligan in 1989 had just really, his business had just started off and he had to cancel this
one meeting in San Francisco and he got up. He already had the tickets bought. He already had
you know everything to go and the Holy Spirit just told him, “You cannot go on this flight.”
And so he told his secretary, Debra, he just called her up and said you know cancel it. I will
have to explain it later. And he did not even take time to tell her. He said, “I just know that I am
not supposed to go.”

And at the very time he measured it by the time when he would have got off that plane,
got into traffic in San Francisco. He would have been on that bridge in the middle of that
earthquake that just collapsed. I mean I cannot tell you the number of times, there have been
times the Holy Spirit just really quickened my wife and I. One time my kids I was about to take
them to school and I just I was praying. I was practicing what I told you earlier.
I started praying first before I got into the Word and all of a sudden this foreboding kind
of feeling or sense came on me and I just, I told Janice, I said, “Just tell the kids.” They were
young, pretty young at that time. I said, “We are not going to school right now.” Of course they
were, “Yea!” You know. And we prayed in the Holy Ghost, prayed in the Holy Ghost probably
for 45 minutes an hour and it lifted, I got light in my soul again and I said, “Okay, come on boys,
we are going to go.” And, “Oh, Dad” you know. But so we get in the car.
We were living in Houston at the time and we drive up to I-45 off of Greens Road and
started to get on the freeway and there was like a 20 car pile-up right on that place that we would
have been on. Well, “Are you sure you would have been in that?” I know what, “I am sure I
was not.” The Holy Spirit will show you things to come. One time my wife and I were, I am
just giving you some, just a few kind of cliff notes examples.
One time my wife and I were praying and all of a sudden this heaviness came on us. And
of course you know sometimes that could be the devil sure trying to oppress us. But I am talking
about this thing was heavy and so we start praying, praying in the Holy Ghost. Did not just kind
of brush it off, we just prayed and yielded to the Spirit. “Show us what this is. You are trying.”
The anointing in us was trying to show us. Here it says He is going to prepare us for the future.
He will show us things to come.
We, my wife saw a vision of this truck, this pickup truck driving down the street and
Michael running out in front of it. And Michael was probably 4 or so at the time. Or maybe
younger, anyway, I think he was maybe even younger 2, 3, something. Anyway, so, well
obviously you know we prayed and bound the enemy, bound the spirit of death off him; and kept
him away from the street, okay. Now that was, and nothing happened and so everything is cool.
Two years later, we are in Galveston Texas. I was praying. I think in the hotel room just
praying about my message. And so Janice was taking the kids across Seawall Boulevard to the
beach and she walks out and Seawall Boulevard at the time had had this median. You could
walk out and you know this traffic and then stand in the median and then go you know across the
other two lanes. And they got out to the median and all of a sudden Michael thinking that she
was going to continue on took off out into the street and she looks up and here is the truck that
she saw in that vision two years before. And she said, “Jesus!” And it was, she said it was like
an angel because Michael was running across the street and he came back into her arms
backwards, flew back into her arms. That thing got taken care of two years before.

Here is what I am telling you guys. We need to be Holy Spirit people. The Holy Spirit
will. I am not trying to fear us out here, okay, and freak us out. But there are times, has that ever
happened to any of you where that kind of a burden comes on you and you know. Pray! Pray!
Bind the enemy off of you know! Break the power of the enemy and his plans, okay. But yield
to the Spirit. Do not just kind of flippantly go on and well, you know the Word and you know
you are protected so just go on. It is okay. Just go on.
Well what would have happened to Andrew or Paul, okay, if they would have just went
on. What would have happened to all those people that did not show up at the Twin Towers or
on the airplane like the others did. What would have happened to them? See, God loves us but
He loves us enough sometimes to show us things to come. If you foresee the evil you can hide
yourself from it; from Satan’s plans. Sometimes that is the way He leads us. He will show us
things to come. Now, obviously He can show us good things to come too. So I am not trying to
be negative here. But it is imperative #6 that we cultivate a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit because
He knows what the future holds does He not.
Learn to listen to the Holy Ghost in good times and bad. He will show you what to invest
in, what to get out of because Isaiah 48:17, “…I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to
profit…” He knows how to make good deals in a bad economy. Then ‘D’ the Holy Spirit will
give you specific direction for your life. (Romans 8:14) “…as many as are led by the
Spirit…these are the [mature] sons of God.” That word ‘sons’ there is mature sons. There are
many decisions in life the Bible does not give us a specific answer to. What job to take, what
college to attend, what car to buy, what home to purchase, what person to marry; are you with
me?
Let me help you. How many of you single. Where are all the single people? Okay, keep
your hands up. Okay, how many of you single people think that God might one day you would
make room in your heart for God to send a significant other in your life? Okay, so not all of you,
most of you, alright. Listen to me, listen, listen. Make time your friend. Make time your friend.
You take time. You do not be in a rush. You are not losing out. You listen to God. You make
time your friend. You go, you let that relationship go through some adversity, okay. You find
out how that person responds. Are they a momma’s boy or momma’s girl? Okay, you do not
need that. You wait that God will bring the right one to you. Do you trust Him? Okay.
Listen to the Holy Ghost. He will show you. We need the Holy Spirit’s direction in
these things. Stop leaning to your understanding and start depending on the greater one who
lives inside you, yes. Yes? Listen guys, we need the Holy Spirit. There is things, man I am
telling you, man. He saved my bacon! Man! You know what I mean? I mean there was times
when I was about to make a huge mistake but because I am constantly God-dependent. That is
just the way. That is what I have just decided. I am going to stay like Jack Hayford says. I am

going to stay childlike with God and teachable with men. And so I am listening to the Holy
Spirit. You know what I need.
“Lord, you know if I am starting to get off on some area you can change me. Man, send
somebody into my life to speak to me” whatever, yeah. But we need to be Word people who
know enough about the Word so that we can judge things whether they are in line with God’s
character or not. But we also need to be Spirit people so that we are sensitive so He can show us
direction and show us things He is wanting us to do that our mind had not thought about, yeah.
Then ‘E’ He will distribute gifts to assist you in your life and ministry, yeah. He will
distribute gifts to you. I have shared with you about Harold and Barb before did I not about we
counseled them and they were in all these problems and we could not help them with our counsel
and the Word. And God showed me there were three spirits assigned to their life and you know
just through discerning of spirits. I shared it with Harold. He bound those things, broke those
things over his life and man the three major areas of his life in a relationship in finances and in
health God delivered them and it was not through my counsel. Are you with me?
Now, you know counsel is good but sometimes people need the gifts and all things are
possible with the Spirit and His gifts at our disposal. And so guys we need to know the Word
and we need to know the Spirit. We got to be Holy Spirit people and we have got to be Word
people. Man, Andrew is that way. Andrew is a great Word teacher. Man, he is just kind of a, he
is just kind of a, you know wall to wall teacher, right. I mean he can come out with just anything
on any subject. But I am telling you he listens to the Holy Spirit. What part of the Word needs
to be taught and when he would come to our church sometimes I would ask him what he was
going to teach. He said, “I do not know, I am praying.” And he would wait and the Holy Spirit
would direct him and man it was powerful. Just, see, the Holy Spirit knows what people need.
When you are getting, when you are ministering to your children do not just, I mean
listen to the Holy Spirit. He knows what will help them instead of you just you know yea-yeayea-yea-erng-erng-erng. He knows! You know what sometimes they need? They need you to
take them on a date. And do not give them any instruction or correction. Praise God! Do not
come to me for the money. Believe God for it!
Alright, Father I just pray for this class. I thank you, Lord. We are Word people and we
are, they are Spirit people. They are going to be sensitive. They are sensitive to your voice.
Father, they are equipped with everything good for doing your will and anything they do not
know from the Word you Spirit will compensate for and Lord they are adequate for everything
they face because they depend on the Spirit and not their peanut brain. In Jesus name, amen!
Amen! Blessings guys!
