The Dynamics of Near-Surface Dust on Airless Bodies

By studying the levitation behavior in a 1D system for a range of particle sizes, a range of central body masse ...

Quantum Mechanics as Quantum Information
Quantum Mechanics as Quantum Information

... Our foremost task should be to go to each and every axiom of quantum theory and give it an information theoretic justification if we can. Only when we are finished picking off all the terms (or combinations of terms) that can be interpreted as subjective information will we be in a position to make ...

Let me try to give a better way to think about this by making use of Einstein again. What might have been his greatest achievement in building general relativity? ...

... As mentioned before, once the coefficients E α and E α0 are known, it is possible to obtain the fields everywhere. In particular, the energy power scattered into different channels can be computed by integration of the relevant time-averaged components of the Poynting vector. We define Wz as the tot ...

Observation of spatial ordering and blocked excitation in Rydberg

... A quantum computer does not use binary bits, with value 0 or 1, like a conventional computer but instead uses so-called qubits which are a quantum superposition of two or more states meaning that the value can be both 0 and 1. Quantum teleportation is the art of instantly transferring a state from p ...

Realizing nonholonomic dynamics as limit of friction forces
Realizing nonholonomic dynamics as limit of friction forces

... Chaplygin sleigh with large friction in Section 7.1. Efforts towards obtaining such a general expansion were made in [WH96], which studies ‘creep dynamics’ for a few example systems. For the Chaplygin sleigh they find the same first order correction term (our h(1) ) to the invariant manifold Dε , bu ...

Theoretical and experimental justification for the Schrödinger equation

The theoretical and experimental justification for the Schrödinger equation motivates the discovery of the Schrödinger equation, the equation that describes the dynamics of nonrelativistic particles. The motivation uses photons, which are relativistic particles with dynamics determined by Maxwell's equations, as an analogue for all types of particles. This article is at a postgraduate level. For a more general introduction to the topic see Introduction to quantum mechanics.
