Multiple Exciton Generation in Semiconductor Nanocrystals: Applications to Third Generation Solar Photon Conversion
Multiple Exciton Generation in Semiconductor Nanocrystals: Applications to Third Generation Solar Photon Conversion

... Singlet fission is the molecular analog of MEG and also could yield enhanced solar photon conversion efficiencies. It had been observed in dimeric diphenylisobenzofurane. Single gap cells with carrier multiplication with MEG yield the same improvement for PV as 2-gap tandem PV cells. A tandem cell w ...

... We first characterized the QD with a single beam voltage modulation absorption experiment [15, 18]. We set the gate voltage at the edge of the trion charge plateau, where the optical pumping of the electron spin effect is suppressed [15, 16]. The main figure in Fig. 1 shows the quartet transition pa ...

... using 2s complement, but this means our multiplier needs to handle negative numbers (which it does not). A simpler approach is to recognize that we can make the result mod Mp after every multiplication and subtraction step, and note that k – 2 (mod Mp) ≡ k + Mp – 2 (mod Mp) Then instead of subtracti ...

... Experimenters showed that the lifetime τ of unstable particles moving with velocity v is equal to τ0 γ, where τ0 is the lifetime of the particle at rest and γ = (1 − v 2 /c2 )−1/2 . Usual explanation of the fact is based on the special theory of relativity. For example, Mller (1972) sets forth it a ...

Quantum electrodynamics

In particle physics, quantum electrodynamics (QED) is the relativistic quantum field theory of electrodynamics. In essence, it describes how light and matter interact and is the first theory where full agreement between quantum mechanics and special relativity is achieved. QED mathematically describes all phenomena involving electrically charged particles interacting by means of exchange of photons and represents the quantum counterpart of classical electromagnetism giving a complete account of matter and light interaction. In technical terms, QED can be described as a perturbation theory of the electromagnetic quantum vacuum. Richard Feynman called it ""the jewel of physics"" for its extremely accurate predictions of quantities like the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron and the Lamb shift of the energy levels of hydrogen.
